What a VPN does, and what it doesn't
A VPN gives you a private connection out to the internet through a server you choose. Your traffic goes through that server, so websites see its address and its city instead of your home connection's.
What it's good for
- Privacy from the network you're on. On shared or public connections, the people running that network can't see what you're doing.
- Your own IP, in a city you pick. Useful when a fixed, known address or a particular location matters to you.
- A steady way in and out that you control.
What it won't do
A VPN is not a magic cloak. You're still signed into your accounts, and a site you log into still knows it's you. It protects the connection; it doesn't erase who you are. We won't tell you it makes you untraceable, because that isn't true.
TunnelNet VPN runs on our own network, lets you choose your city, and keeps no logs of your browsing. Pay by card or prepay with Bitcoin — same price either way. Details at tunnelnet.com.
