What we track
- Rate changes health insurers file for individual and small-group plans, across the country, Illinois included.
- Rate filings for auto, home and other property and casualty insurance in California.
- How big the changes are, and which companies make them.
Where it comes from
- CMS rate review data (source): the rate filing information health insurers submit for individual and small-group plans, published by CMS as yearly downloads.
- California Department of Insurance public notices of rate filings (source): the state's notices of rate filings for auto, home and other property and casualty insurance, posted as spreadsheets.
We use only data anyone can open without an account. How we check our sources.
How often it updates
California's rate filing notices have been posted about once a week. CMS says its rate review files are updated periodically. Our own update schedule for this area is being set.
